iOS 17, which will be released at WWDC 2023, will bring 10 significant changes to iPhones

According to the company's Monday announcement, your iPhone could receive an upgrade that includes interactive widgets, improved privacy settings, the option to leave a video or voice note after a missed FaceTime call, among other features.

At its Monday Worldwide Developers Conference, Apple said that iOS 17, which will be made available to users in the fall of 2023, will include a number of new capabilities for iPhone SE 2nd generation and subsequent models.

Here are 10 of your phone's most important upcoming features in case you can't wait to see what the latest updates will be.

Customization of the message that appears when you call someone. Users of iPhones running iOS 17 will be able to upload a photo or Memoji to a Contact Poster of their choosing. Additionally, users can choose the font and color that appear when they call other iPhone users.

Voicemail transcriptions in real time. Users of iOS 17 will be able to watch the message being left in real-time when they send a call to voicemail. Additionally, a new Silence Unknown Callers option will be made available, which will route incoming calls from unknown numbers to Live Voicemail without ringing your phone. With the change, spam calls can be rejected right away rather than being routed to Live Voicemail.

When a user arrives at a location, their loved ones are automatically notified. Users of iOS17's Check-In function can notify loved ones when they arrive safely home. The feature will check on the user if they stop moving in the direction of their destination. It will send the loved one the iPhone user's location, battery life, and cell service status if there is no answer.

Transcription of spoken words. Users will have the option of reading or listening to audio messages that are sent in messages thanks to iOS17's transcription of the audio content.

Emoji stickers, Live Stickers, Memoji stickers, and more new stickers are available. The upgrade makes the user's iPhone, iPad, and Mac useable by syncing in their iCloud account. Users can create Live Stickers using Live Photos and new effects will be available for customizing the stickers.

Voicemails from FaceTime. If a FaceTime call is missed, iPhone owners with iOS 17 installed will now be able to leave a voicemail by way of a video or audio message.

Current internet privacy settings, among other things. Apple's privacy protection settings now include options for the internet and airdropped images. Users of iOS 17 will be able to blur images and videos before viewing them, enable Lockdown Mode to protect themselves from online threats, pick and choose which images to share with an app while preserving their picture library's privacy, and more.

Updated wifi networks and AirDrop settings. NameDrop, which exchanges phone numbers and email addresses between users when their iPhones are close to one another, is now available to Apple customers. Users will also be able to send transfers over AirDrop even if the recipient is no longer in the same area as them. Users of SharePlay will soon be able to play games and listen to music with neighboring iPhone users as part of an upgrade to the service.

An iPhone app for journals is coming. With the new software, users will be able to journal about their experiences on their iPhones and incorporate images, locations, recordings, and more. Based on the images taken, music listened to, workouts completed, and other information stored in the device, the users' iPhones will also start to recommend experiences for the user to write about in the app.

An enhancement will be made to autocorrect. In iOS 17, the iPhone's autocorrect feature will offer more precise spelling corrections. With the upgrade, autocorrect will now have a predictive typing feature and will highlight words that need to be fixed.
Other improvements that iPhone users will be able to access through iOS17 include SharePlay, which enables playlist collaboration, the sharing of a location in message conversations, FaceTime support on Apple TV, a new feature called StandBy, which transforms an iPhone user's device into a bedside clock, and more.

September is probably the release date for iOS 17.
