Gundogan decides to leave Man City and join Arsenal in the Premier League

Ilkay Gundogan, a midfielder for Manchester City, has spoken with Xavi, the manager of Barcelona, and is expected to decline a transfer to Arsenal.

Gundogan's current contract with the Premier League champions is about to expire.

The German is prepared to "close the chapter" on his career in the English top division.

Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga are expected to leave Arsenal, thus the club is eager to add players to strengthen their central midfield.

Mikel Arteta's top targets are Gundogan and Declan Rice, but he also has Moises Caicedo and Moises Rice on his list.

At the Etihad Stadium, Arteta and Gundogan collaborated, and the Gunners' manager enticed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from City last season.
